Why is my Wi-Fi name not being recognized by Flexwhere?
Whether your Wi-Fi name can be read depends on several factors.
Location Services for Windows / macOS
In recent years, Windows and Apple have increasingly tightened the security of laptops and PCs. One of these changes is that reading the Wi-Fi network name by various types of software, such as Flexwhere, is classified under Location Services. If Location Services are disabled, or if Flexwhere for Desktop has not been granted access, Flexwhere will not be able to read your Wi-Fi name. To adjust this, follow the steps below:
Windows:
- Go to System Settings
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Under App permissions, select Location
- Check whether Location Services are enabled and whether Flexwhere for Desktop has access
macOS:
- Open System Settings
- Go to Privacy & Security
- Click Location Services
- Enable Location Services at the top
- Scroll down and open Apps (or App-specific access)
- Find the relevant third-party app
- Set the access to While using the app or Always
Virtual environments
If your organization uses virtual services such as VMware, Citrix, or RDP, Flexwhere will not be able to read the Wi-Fi name. This is because Flexwhere for Desktop runs on the virtual machine, which is not connected to a local internet connection and therefore cannot detect local network connections.
Have you checked all options but Flexwhere still cannot read your Wi-Fi name?
