How does Flexwhere use IP addresses and Wi-Fi names?

Flexwhere uses IP addresses to determine which Flexwhere environment a user is connected to. By adding IP addresses, Flexwhere recognizes from which location or network someone is connecting. This ensures that users are automatically directed to your own Flexwhere environment and that Flexwhere for desktop and features such as automatic occupancy work correctly.

Adding IP addresses and Wi-Fi names

You can add an IP address via the organization settings. Scroll down to the Security section. Here you can add an IP address to your IP whitelist. Give the connection a name, such as “office” or “VPN,” and enter the Wi-Fi name. By entering the Wi-Fi name, Flexwhere can more accurately determine whether someone is in the office or not.
Make sure to add all different Wi-Fi names that belong to the same network (separate multiple names with a comma). Note that the name must match exactly, including uppercase/lowercase letters and special characters. Once everything is filled in, click Save.

IP ranges

In addition to individual IP addresses, you can also add IP ranges. An IP range is a sequence of consecutive IP addresses. Instead of adding each IP address separately, an IP range allows you to authorize multiple addresses at once. For example, an IP range from 192.168.1.0 to 192.168.1.255 ensures that all (256) IP addresses within this range are recognized by Flexwhere. When adding an IP range, the different Wi-Fi names must also be added.

Flexwhere has limitations on how many IP addresses can be added and how large IP ranges can be. This is to guarantee security within Flexwhere. If these limits are not sufficient, please contact support.

Note: Always make sure you only add IP addresses or IP ranges that belong to your organization. If you are unsure which IP addresses are used, contact your IT or network administrator, or check them via a website such as https://whatsmyip.com/.
